CHILD & ADOLESCENT THERAPY

Tender Teddy was not doing okay!

First he just stopped talking as much, and when he did talk he always seemed sad or mad.

His mom and dad thought it was just the stress of recent times and he would start feeling better any day now.

But then months turned to years, and Teddy’s mood & behavior got worse.

The school couldn’t help.

Even though they made some accommodations and the school counselor was available, Teddy just seemed stuck.

The school recommended a psychiatrist and medications.

They provided the option for video based education.

Both of these options made Teddy’s parents feel uncomfortable.

Teddy was brought to AUM.

His parents heard that we provide natural alternatives to medications, but that we could work with a holistic psychiatrist if Teddy really needed medications.

Teddy didn’t need to start with medications. He was a good candidate for our Holistic Therapy services.

We designed a Holistic Treatment Plan.

After assessing the challenges and setting some goals with Teddy and his parents we came up with a plan.

The family saw our integrative nutritionist for child-safe food and supplement recommendations that supported Teddy’s energy & mood.

His Psychotherapy sessions provided him with a professional to talk to and a place to learn therapeutic tools for emotional development and communication.

Teddy’s parents also wanted him to receive Yoga Psychotherapy – a form of evidence-based Somatic Therapy that is fun, relaxing and teaches tools for regulating your nervous system, thoughts and emotions.

Teddy responded well to natural treatment methods.

Teddy and his parents were willing to come to therapy and practice the therapeutic tools that were provided.

We coordinated with Teddy’s school to refine and enhance accommodations that would prove to be beneficial.

Teddy’s grades improved!

We evaluate Teddy’s progress every 6 weeks and involve his parents and school every step of the way.

He’s had one set-back when he started full-time back to school, but he was able to stay in school full-time.

His mood and grades improved regardless!

YAY Teddy!

Brief speed bumps are normal to any change process.

Things are better at home.

His mom and dad are happy and continue to bring Teddy to AUM from time to time, at Teddy’s request, for on-going mentorship.
