In my previous post, Wired for Spirituality: How Our Innate Capacity for Deep Connection Can Help Us Heal (if you haven’t read, start there), I explored the importance of spirituality and the scientific evidence that its presence leads to healthier, more robust brains and more fulfilling lives. In this post, I want to share with you how spirituality can be integrated into the therapeutic process.

Spirituality in the Intake Process

If you have ever engaged in therapy before, you know that it starts with an intake process. At AUM Integral Wellness, that involves some questionnaires and paperwork to fill out before the first session and then an hour-and-a-half session with your new therapist to go over your presenting issues, symptoms, history, and goals. The integration of spirituality begins here. These questions include inquiries into your religious and spiritual values, beliefs, and practices. While many places may avoid asking about these topics, we know that to ignore spirituality would be to ignore a vital part of who you are.

Effective spiritual awakening counseling requires a holistic approach. It is treating the whole person- body, mind, and spirit. During your intake, you will also create goals. You may want to include growing spiritually through creating and maintaining spiritual practices that support you, learning about spiritual development, diving deeper into meditation, exploring your core beliefs and spiritual values, etc.

Holistic Wellness Plans

After your intake, you will receive a holistic wellness plan specifically created for you based on your wellness challenges and goals. This will include everything your therapist clinically recommends for you to start your healing journey. Your spiritual wellness is included here by offering services such as energy healing in Dallas, meditation sessions and classes, yoga psychotherapy and classes, spiritual guidance sessions, soul retrieval, and of course, all the work you do with your main therapist. All of us will work together.

Integrated Care

Aside from direct goals relating to these topics, at AUM Integral Wellness, spirituality is seen as a vital strength and resource in all of your healing work. Evidence is revealing that spiritual values and behaviors are integral to physical and mental health, so we want to help you weave your innate resources, values, and meaning-making processes with the regulation tools we will help you cultivate to truly enhance the therapeutic process.

At AUM Integral Wellness, your deeply meaningful spiritual experiences won’t be disbelieved, written off as an illness, or skimmed over. Your spiritual awakening counseling therapist can help you process your experiences, grow from them, and follow your own intuition, spirit guides, God, ancestors, or whatever Divine guidance you follow.
